There are many ways to dehumidify the air, including cooling dehumidification, compression dehumidification, solid adsorption dehumidification, liquid absorption dehumidification, etc. Rotary dehumidification is a type of solid adsorption dehumidification. It uses a honeycomb rotor coated with a high-efficiency desiccant to absorb moisture in the air, thereby achieving the effect of drying and dehumidification. It is a new dehumidification technology that has gradually developed in China in recent years.
High temperature resistant ceramics are made into honeycomb rotors by a molding machine, and then the highly efficient moisture absorbing material, silica gel, is coated on the honeycomb surface through a high temperature sintering process (or other special processes). Inside the dehumidification section, the rotor is divided into a treatment area and a regeneration area by a sealing system. When the humid air passes through the treatment area, the silica gel on the rotor physically absorbs the moisture in the air into the honeycomb gap, and the water vapor undergoes a phase change at the same time, releasing condensation heat. The treated air becomes dry hot air due to the reduction of moisture and the absorption of latent heat; at the same time, in the regeneration area, the regeneration wind is heated to become high temperature and low humidity (relative humidity) regeneration air (generally 100-140°C), which passes through the saturated rotor after moisture absorption, so that the absorbed moisture in the rotor evaporates, thereby restoring the dehumidification capacity of the rotor. During the dehumidification process, the rotor is driven by a drive motor and rotates 8-42 times per hour, and the moisture absorption and regeneration action is repeated continuously to ensure that dehumidification is a continuous process.
Theoretically, rotary dehumidification is an isenthalpic process. The latent heat released by the phase change of water molecules is absorbed by the treated air, and the treated air achieves isenthalpic heating and dehumidification. However, in actual projects, due to the heating effect of the regenerated air, the rotary wheel will reach a high temperature. In addition to adsorbing moisture in the treated air in the treatment area, the high-temperature rotary wheel also heats the treated air, causing the enthalpy value of the treated air to rise and the temperature to rise further (usually the treated air will reach more than 40°C at the outlet of the rotary wheel). In actual projects, in order to reduce the load of the rotary wheel, improve the efficiency of the rotary wheel, and achieve the purpose of green energy saving, a pre-cooling coil is often added to the inlet of the rotary wheel. According to the characteristics of the rotary wheel, the lower the temperature and humidity of the inlet air, the stronger its dehumidification capacity and the higher the utilization efficiency of the rotary wheel. At the same time, in order to adapt to the supply air temperature requirements of different environments, a post-cooling (heating) coil, also known as a re-cooling (heating) coil, is added to the outlet of the rotary wheel to achieve a suitable supply air outlet temperature (generally set to 15-22°C)
The basic principle of the currently commonly used refrigeration adsorption combined dehumidification is that the wheel rotates continuously and the dehumidifier regeneration fan operates over and over again, thus ensuring that the dehumidifier is in a continuous and stable dehumidification state.
